CapiCap ("the app") is designed to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your information.
The short version: CapiCap does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. Everything you do in the app happens on your device.
Your videos and transcripts
- When you pick a video, CapiCap transcribes it entirely on your device using an on-device speech recognition model (Whisper via WhisperKit).
- Your videos, audio, transcripts, subtitle text, and exported files never leave your device. They are not uploaded to us or to any third party.
- CapiCap does not require a network connection to transcribe or export.
- The app only accesses the specific videos you choose to open. You can revoke photo/media access at any time in the iOS Settings app.
The one-time model download
On first launch, CapiCap downloads its speech-recognition model (about 600 MB) from Hugging Face so transcription can run on your device. This is the only network request the app makes. The download contains no personal data about you, and after it completes the app works fully offline.
Tips (optional in-app purchases)
CapiCap is free. It includes an optional "tip jar" with consumable in-app purchases that are a way to say thank you and unlock nothing.
- Tip purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. CapiCap never sees or stores your payment information.
- Any data related to a purchase is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. We receive only anonymous, aggregate sales information from Apple and cannot identify individual purchasers.
Analytics and tracking
CapiCap contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The app does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across apps or websites.
Data we hold about you
None. Because CapiCap has no accounts and no servers that receive your content, there is no personal data for us to store, sell, or disclose.
Children's privacy
CapiCap does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
